Therapeutic Effect of Ofloxacin on Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Abstract
|
|
|
A new antibacterial substance, ofloxacin, was used in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. The agent was given to 22 patients with chronic for advanced, drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis as single doses of 300 mg daily for 2 years.
Negative conversion of tubercle bacilli occurred in 6 patients (27.3 %), and improvement of radiological infiltration in 4 patients (18.2 %).
No side effects were observed during the administration period. Ofloxacin was considered useful in drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis.
